Zuckerberg is set to take facebook
to a greater height, just yesterday he announced his upcoming plan on his
facebook page.
Mark Zuckerberg is doing his bit to
promote his company’s push into livestreaming by hosting a Q&A on Facebook
Live.
In a short video post that was shared from his account on Wednesday, the Facebook
founder and CEO announced the live chat broadcast in a rather quiet fashion.
The clip features a simple typed-out message on a black background stating the
time and date of the event. Zuckerberg signs off by asking users that wish to
participate in the interactive livestream to leave their questions in the
comments section below the post.
The Q&A session kicks off at
11.30am PT on June 14, meaning you still have six days to formulate your
thoughts and get those burning issues off your chest. Over 5,000 comments have
flooded in since the post was uploaded five hours ago, which indicates that
Zuckerberg (and his team) will have to vet a lot of queries, or alternatively
conduct a marathon live broadcast — luckily Facebook recently introduced 24-hour livestreams, so we may end up
getting a whole lot of Zuck.
The man himself actually provides some suggestions in the description that accompanies the announcement video. Comparing the upcoming event to his highly publicized Town hall Q&As, Zuckerberg states that Facebook Live finally allows him to interact with the site’s massive community.
“Now with Live I can hear
from more of our community at once and it’s a lot more interactive,” he writes.
“We can cover all the big areas you’re interested in — connecting the world,
artificial intelligence, virtual reality, live
video, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and more.”
Clearly Zuckerberg is
interested in discussing his biggest ventures, from Free Basics to the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative. And here we were hell-bent on asking about his biggest Oculus
Rift fail — come on, we all know the VR team down at Facebook HQ must have
played a few pranks on their boss (how else do you explain this?).
The most-liked comments
thus far seem to also be taking a (disappointingly) refined approach to their
queries. One user asks: “What do you see in the future of humanity? Do you see
global warming being an issue that is too late to resolve? Do you picture the
human race migrating to another planet?” Another highly rated comment states:
“I see that you have huge ambitions to bring internet to the furthest stretches
of the world and even space; yet I can’t help but notice that in many places in
the USA, in rural areas, you simply cannot get online. Do you have plans to get
access to our people here in the USA as well?”
Okay, we admit, those are
impressive questions, but doesn’t anyone want to know whether Zuckerberg still
keeps a beer keg in the office, and solo
cups in the cupboard? As mentioned by Zuck himself, the comments that get
the most likes will probably be the ones he ends up addressing on June 14.
Better get your thinking caps on people.
