More Tragedy On BB Users [Glo Stops Blackberry Internet Services]

Etisalat started this trend of stopping the use ofBlackberry Internet services on Blackberry OS few months ago, as if that wasn’t enough. Now Glo has announced their own sad news specifically prepared for BB users.

Don't forget that if not the facts that WhatsApp extended their livesupport to Blackberry devices till June 2017, users of BB won't be able to use WhatsApp right now
Below  was the message they sent to their Blackberry Users.

Dear Customer, starting December 17, 2016 BlackBerry services on your device (BBOS7 devices) will no longer be available. You can still continue to use the device to Call and Text. We request you to migrate to a BB10, Android, Windows or IOS handset to use your remaining data.

BLACKBERRY PLANS THAT ARE AFFECTED (will be unavailable)

• BlackBerry Complete weekly plan

• BlackBerry Complete monthly plan

• BlackBerry Absolute weekly plan

• BlackBerry Absolute monthly plan

• BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS)

• BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES)

So what is the way forward? The best step you should make is to migrate to Android device or iPhone… no matter how you love your Bold 5, Curve or Storm, they are all outdated and no more in vogue.

#Farewell BB☝

Another Bad news To Blackberry, Etisalat Discontinues Blackberry Internet Services.

Blackberry users are still receiving repeated blows from all corners as many app developers have abandoned them; earlier this year, WhatsApp announced that it won't be working on Blackberry OS devices any more.

This and other challenges prompted Blackberry CEO John Chen to say that the company would exit the smartphone business last month October, after struggling to compete with Android and iPhone.

The latest blow is from Etisalat as the telecom giants have discontinued Blackberry Internet Services commonly known as BIS subscriptions. Below is the message they sent to their Blackberry subscribers.

Dear Customer, our BB service will no longer be available. You will continue to enjoy your current subscription till it expires. Thank you for choosing Etisalat

Just Imagine! How can someone use a smartphone without Internet services? That means it will be usable for making calls and using some scrap BB apps.

If you are still using a Blackberry, my dear you are in another planet because even blackberry makers now hate the OS.

WhatsApp Extends Support For BB Devices Till June 2017 Before Final Shut Down

As against the initial announcement that was made in February this year, Whatsapp has extended the support deadline issued to Blackberry OS and Blackberry 10 devices.

The reason for this extension is yet to be revealed, but we believe the change of mind is good for the blackberry users as they will have enough time to get a new device.
The date was extended from 31st Dec. 2016 to 30th June, 2017.

This was announced in a blog post made that reads as follows:

WhatsApp support for mobile devices As announced in our blog, we will soon be ending support for certain devices. On June 30, 2017, we will no longer support the following platforms:
  •
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
The following platforms will no longer be supported at the beginning of 2017:
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows Phone 7
  • iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
These platforms don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android running OS 2.3+, a Windows Phone 8+, or an iPhone running iOS 7+ before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.

The new update for the BlackBerry 10 version is available through BlackBerry World right now but keep in mind; it's a re-setting of the time-bomb built into the app, which will now no longer go off at the end of 2016.

BlackBerry's Top Goal to Make Devices Profitable This Year, Says Chen the CEO

Chen and other executives and board members gave limited information about the company's current financial performance, as it is releasing first quarter results on June 23. — Reuters

BlackBerry Ltd's top priority for this year is making its devices business profitable, its chief executive said on Wednesday, even as it weighs the future of its hardware operation.
"The device business must be profitable, because we don't want to run a business that drags onto the bottom line," Chief Executive John Chen told investors at the company's annual meeting. "We've got to get there this year."
BlackBerry, once the Smartphone market leader before being displaced by Apple Inc and competitors run on Alphabet Inc's Android platform, has been working to reposition itself as a software and service provider with a focus on device management for large organizations.
Chen took up the CEO role in late 2013 with a reputation as a turnaround artist. But the company's stock has only gained modestly since then, with many investors waiting for signs the now-smaller company will be able to carve out opportunities.
The chief executive reiterated that BlackBerry wants to grow its software revenue by about 30 percent in the current fiscal year, which he estimates would be double what the market is growing at.
The company is also still aiming to have positive free cash flow this fiscal year, he said.
