As a result, the loss-making business said it is
going to focus on creating software for mobile phones, rather than the devices themselves.
The
blackberry CEO John Chen said this in a press release on Sept. 28, He stated
specifically that the company's future lies in software, mobile management, and
security. At the end of the day, supporting a faltering handset division did

Our
new Mobility Solutions strategy is showing signs of momentum, including our
first major device software licensing agreement with a telecom joint venture in
Indonesia. Under this strategy, we are focusing on software development,
including security and applications. The company plans to end all internal
hardware development and will outsource that function to partners. This allows
us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital.
