See the Disadvantages and Advantages of Disabling the Right click Context menu on your Blog/Website

I was prompted to write this article after my observations in some websites and blogs.

A friend of mine was Writing his final year project in school and on his research he luckily found an article related to his topic, he tried copying the information to add to what he has written but unfortunately the site was one of those that disables the right click option menu such that readers cannot copy any information from the site.

Today we will be looking at the advantages and disadvantages of disabling the right click menu option on a site/blog.

Advantages:

• When the right click menu option is disabled on a Blog it secures your contents so that the lazy bloggers out there will find it difficult to Plagiarize your articles(copying and pasting to their blog).

This is the only advantage of the practice, now let’s discuss the disadvantages.

Disadvantages:

• it defiles the essence of blogging: the aim of every writer or blogger is to pass information/knowledge to his readers, when your information could not be documented or reused by your user for academic purposes it then becomes Useless for your reader just like the example of my friend's experience l gave above.

 

• it drives your visitors away: only few visitors would want to come back to a site where he/she cannot re-use or document the information for future reference therefore you tend to be loosing your visitors as they would prefer going to other sites to fetch their information. 

So judging with these facts we can clearly see that the disadvantage is more than the advantage.
