HTC is widely expected to
be working on the two new Nexus devices codenamed M1 and S1, the short forms
for codenames 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish', to launch this year.
Both the 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish' are rumoured to be the platform lead devices
for Android Nougat.
According to rumours, HTC
Marlin is the flagship Nexus while Sailfish will be the smaller sibling like
Nexus 5X last year. According to Android Police, HTC ‘Marlin’ Nexus will
feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display and will be powered by next variant
of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The next flagship could have a design very similar to HTC
10 with its 5.5-inch display. The device will reportedly feature 4GB RAM and up
to 128GB storage. The battery on this one is likely to be same as Nexus 6P
which was 3,450mAh.
The report further suggests that there is a rear mounted
fingerprint scanner with Nexus imprint support and will also sport
bottom-firing speakers. The smartphone also will feature Bluetooth 4.2 support.
As one can expect from a Google Nexus smartphone, there is a USB-C
port for charging. With the two Nexuses, Google might well follow Apple’s
device policy of two smartphone with different screen sizes and battery.
